To AI the 280 or not

Ive heard there is a slight difference between the original 280AI chamber and the new SAAMI approved 280AI chamber.

are there different die sets to buy?

Agree ….. I've been down that trail a few times as well. Better off to optimize a standard cartridge. IMO.

If it was a bolt rifle, yes I would. I love improved cartridges, especially a lot of the classic rounds.

I personally would not do that to a Ruger #1.

I wouldn't, and I love 280AI. Get you some RL26 if you want more speed.

Tough decision. I do like the improved shoulder on the AI. Less stretch therefore less trimming. Ruger 1 would probably stay original though.
