Bob was looking for a modern cartridge that is accurate, lightweight, flat-shooting, and capable of handling elk without destroying a deer. He drove to Sheridan, Wyoming, where he handled almost every rifle in Weatherby's product line and ultimately selected the Mark V Backcountry 2.0 Ti in 7mm PRC.
Using Weatherby's custom 177-grain Hammer Hunters, the rifle consistently shot 3/4-inch groups.
Bob successfully harvested a mid-Asian ibex in the Tian Shan Mountains. He said, "The bullet broke a lot of bone, and both the core and several petals of the bullet exited!"
