Thoughts on remington 700 long range

You don't have a CLUE what the real cost are!!!

Yeah I agree @bigngreen...I'm no smith but that definitely doesn't sound right. lol...most Smiths I know, when everything is right, parts in, paint going on well, machines and tooling calibrated and working, they can get one rifle built in a week.

Also, there must be a bunch of millionaires gunsmiths running around that I don't know about haha.

Mud let's compare apples to apples. One piece bolts people run because they want that tighter custom feel so add up what I posted above and tell me what your Smith would charge to do that work. This is not about the PTG or others that are trued. I'm comparing full on custom like I posted above that have this.
I'm not talking about threading and chambering either that's another thread.
Well, what I pay is irrelevant, because it's even less than the norm... Also, I'm not him, so I can't set his prices for him. Don't know what he'd charge a random customer wanting a rifle built, honestly. I just know what he charges me, as someone who's personally known him for years.

Maybe I'm failing to comprehend your definition of full-custom 700 vs. what you listed on the work order...??? Sounds pretty much full-custom and blueprinted 700 once you include the PT&G bolt, and truing the raceways...

Should a went with my gut.

Color a case real good with black marker and chamber it a couple times. That should show you where the issue is. Then just take a 7/16" wood dowel and notch it to hold a strip of 180 or 220 emory cloth and work that area slowly with a cordless drill. It shouldn't take much. I did the same thing to mine and it still turned out a good shooter.

Or send it back if your a patient soul.

Well I never fired it. I only cleaned it so it's going back to the gun store tomorrow and they can deal with Remington. Hopefully they'll just give me my rifle back and I'll be on my way. My friend works there so I should hope he'll work with me

I hope I'm not the only one who sees the humor in this.
We went from
"I'd like to try a Remington, but"
"Yeah, it's risky"

To
"All that talk is overblown, one-offs"
"l guess I'll try one"

To
"I bought one"
"Good for you, mine is great"

And now....

Why are your costs irrelevant your comparing your Smith to others, so what you can get done is not what the average Joe can so let's compare apples to apples. And yes a custom is a custom not semi custom. Defiance, Bat, Curtis ,Borden ect. all have what I described so for arguements sake tell me what you can get a 700 done for what I described or let it die.
