Thing about the future 6.5-06AI

So, for clarity....If I were to build a 6.5x280AI, I could buy 280AI bushing dies and appropriate 6.5mm bushings and use that for a die set? I suppose I would need a 0.264" seating stem too?

I have two buddies that built 6.5-06AIs. Super easy, neck UP .25-06 Rem brass, seat the bullets touching the lands, fire form. No turning necks required, one pass through an expander from .255 to .262. Same OAL case as .30-06, which shrinks in length just like a .30-06 case would, no need to neck turn. We used R-P brass, since Rem & Win brass use the same brass thickness in the neck and shoulders, so no donut. Bought 500 pcs between the two, weight sorted to 1gr in two batches, had about 25pcs that didn't work in either batch. Still had 235 pcs in each batch, at half the price or less of Lapua. Prepped the brass, and they are on firings up to #6 or 7.

NKS, yes the Redding .280 ack Type S with the 6.5 bushing installed is what I used..
This die is pretty much a shelf item at most places selling Redding dies.

I made a straight line seater similar to a Wilson, used with an arbor press..
If you wanted to go in this direction your gunsmith can easily run the 6.5-06 Ackley reamer into a Wilson 6.5-06 seater.. A 15 minute job..

What gunsmiths are currently chambering the 6.5x280ai for 140 VLD and bigger bullets?

Building a 6mm x 280ai presently. I have order out 500 Peterson Case in 280 IA, if and when i got them.
