The latest greatest Federal Cartridge

Speaking of fan bois how much of a fan boy do you have to be to hope a cartridge dies because it is replacing the one you like? Just in case you didn't realize the 7 BC is also "smashing" and "putting to shame" the 7 Rem Mag you enjoy.

And just a fun fact for you, the 7 Rem Mag also copied something that had been around for ages, the .275 H&H Magnum introduced in 1912. Look up the case dimensions, it's almost an exact copy.
Come on man. You're lost. Just quit. Its like herding cats listening to you haha. You're digging a hole because none of your assertions are relvant to the original claim you made. It's not my fault that others claims aren't adding up to what they wish they would. Back to the OP.

I was just watching a video from Ron Spomer from the shot show. I just learned a bit of trivia on this new cartridge. It turns out that they are nickel coating this new cartridge inside and out to protect the steel from rusting. I'm curious to know what happens if you trim the shell and expose the steel on the end of the case mouth. For all that matter, what happens if you debur the flash holes and uniform the primer pockets? I guess turning or reaming necks is out of the question. Is the steel going to dull our cutter heads? I would really like more information on the reloading process. Will it be possible to reload them or will we be limited to the operations that we can perform? Me personally, I've never been a real big fan of nickel plated cases anyway but understand that some may have a need for them. I guess if we reload the new steel cases, we will all have a need for them.

Mark,

You ask a lot of good questions, but I feel more than ever that Federal gaslighted us on this cartridge. You say Spomer states the cases are nickel plated, but where are the reloading dies? Where are the cases to buy? Where is the load data that ANYONE is using?

We don't know what type of powder they're using with Federal ammo, we don't know the pressures they're pushing, we don't know what primers they're using...it leaves a lot for all of us to sort out...We've been gaslighted. :(

3rd round fired. 4th and 3rd are identical according to the friend who sent this picture. And very hard bolt lift. 1st and 2nd round, no issue except for slight hard bolt lift.

As of right now, there are no further details. Other than rifle is brand new from a well known custom rifle company.

Hmmm.......... that don't look good. Don't like the sticky bolt lifts either.

And yet it is portrayed as a factory load option in a world which has proven that factory loads do not perform in every rifle option so chambered.
Said it before, this cartridge is DOA.

Liber, we don't know any of that yet. I only assume that information is coming. I'm just sort watching this thing unfold from the side as a spectator. I'm certainly not going to run out and purchase a new rifle or try and buy components. Even when all of this stuff gets sorted out, I'm not sure if this cartridge and rifle will be for me.

I'd Like to, Kindly, Gently and Logically,.. "Point Out",.. ONE,. Thing,.
ALLTerra Rifles, USUALLY "Shoot" from, a .25 Ctr / Ctr. Group to, Sub 1/2, MOA,. Ctr / Ctr, Group's !
OR,.. it,.. DON'T,. "Ship" !
.600, 3 Shot, "Group Averages",.. IS,. "Terrible" for, THESE, usually, awesome shooting, Custom built, Rifles !
I'm SURE that, they had to, Keep a "Lid on" what, they Say,.. BUT,.. I CAN,.. "Read Between, the Lines" !
And they probably don't want to, get, "Cut Off" from, Federal !
They "Probably" AIN'T,.. that,.. "Happy" with, the 7 BC Cartridge from, an ACCURACY, standpoint !
All, JMHO of, course !

That split case scares the crap out of me. I have heard people say that Federal goosed this rounds to try and get similar velocities as 7PRC in a shorter barrel, ain't that the trick? It makes sense that the case would need to withstand more pressure. But so far we don't have much to go by, and I'm certainly not getting in line to buy Federal ammo...

I didn't feel as negative towards 7PRC, but it's now looking like the cartridge to chamber for in a long and/or magnum action. The 7BC has a long ways to go in regard to proving it's foothold. Seems like too little, too late for Federal's splash. My $0.02.

You make some good points. AllTerra sure didn't try to overplay it!

But the reality, after it sinks in, is that you could take the Manson drawing and have a reamer made, and you could chamber for the 7BC, but you would need to chamber for the Federal ammo...🤔 Now your customers go buy Federal ammo and world peace will exist...The other thing is if you don't practice at the range, you don't need that many rounds, so the exorbitant price of Federal ammo may not matter to some folks. I have enough cartridges that I can reload for, and that work fine. And a new one coming that I haven't even loaded for.

Maybe Shot Show 2026 will tell if Federal can overcome some of these obstacles.;)
