The 375 Zayne was a success...it’s time for the 340 Zaylea Ann

You have green grass?!?
That's funny, I seen the pictures and thought the same thing. He had sent me a picture of the snow piled up in his front yard just last week. Then green grass and flip flops a few days later, I thought we had some wild weather swings here but that would have been nuts!

Here is a picture of a fireformed case next to the parent case. The Zaylea Ann holds 110 grains of powder. I was hoping for a tish more but definitely happy with the results.

Thought it would be a good time for an update. I ordered the dies from Ben Syring at Hornady. So hopefully by next month we can get some real testing done. I ran into a bit of a snag with Bertram Brass. I knew they were hard but I thought if I annealed them they would soften up enough to fireform. Unfortunately not the case (pun intended). The stretch was too much for the brass and split it. Even at a medium/conservative load of 7828SSC. So my next option is Norma. I know Norma made Weatherby brass back in 2007, but I'm not sure if that is still the norm. My other choice was Weatherby Magnum brass. Since you get 20 Weatherby brass for the same price you get 25 Norma, I figured it was a safe move. My experience with Norma is that its a bit softer than others so that hopefully will work to our advantage as well. I will anneal the brass as soon as I get it and load up a few to see if we can get them to work.

On a side note, there is a big and exciting announcement coming soon!! It just may be the last gun in the Z Trilogy!!! This one will be by far the most tricky. However, In my opinion I have the best team of people that could be assembled. I'm just finishing up the reamer drawing. I need more kids...I'm having way too much fun with these. Ummm wait....on second thought I'm happy with 3. :D

The weather finally cooperated an gave a beautiful cool morning for me and The Zaylea Ann to get to the range. I stuffed some cases with Retumbo and dropped a 236 Hammer on top and did some playing. Quickload suggested 96, 97, and 98 grains so that what I went with. I was very happy with accuracy. Pressure was never a problem and the gun is just a dream to shoot. 3 shot groups at 100 with 98 grains being the most accurate. 3076 is a very respectful velocity however there is more room in the case. Here are some pictures from yesterday's range time.

So sorry that's it's only a 20 grain increase in powder/case capacity from the parent case ;):);)

It looks good and "Whats my favorite saying" Consistent.
