New to LRH, and was curious to get some feedback from guys using crossbows. If you were willing to drop $1500-3000 on a crossbow would you go Ravin, Ten Point, or even another brand? Also, is anyone experiencing less issues if you try and stay around the 400fps mark.

I've had both and both are great crossbows. I currently have Ten Point TRX 515 and very happy with it. I think Ten Point has better communication and customer service with my dealer so I am sticking with them.

Wouldn't consider Excalibur?

I have the Ravin R5X and if it broke tomorrow, I would go buy it again. Tight groups out to 100 yards, quiet crank system, super compact. It's pretty much a rifle and I have been beyond impressed with it. I paid right around $1900 for the camo version. I would imagine the more expensive versions would be just as good, if not better but can't say for sure.

Welcome from Virginia.

R20 and it has been fantastic. 2-3" groups at 100 but I limit shots to 70. Most are around 20-25.
Only issue is noise. With any high speed bow, there is more noise on release. For that reason I like 5-25 yards then skip 26-40 yards as the deer really seem to have time to jump the string. After 40 it is not as big an issue. If there is wind even less of an issue. For the 20-40 yard shots, only take shot when deers head is fully raised.

Well I have 4 crossbows.
1. Ravin R500
2. TenPt RS470
3. Scorpyd SLP 165
4. Excalibur Matrix mega 405.
All fantastic bows in their own right.

My favorite is my Ravin R500. The size compactness the accuracy is just nuts. If it broke tomorrow I'd buy another or the new version to come out that replaced the R500. It's just that good.
Both my R500 and my 10pt are topped with the Burris oracle x. It's an amazing optic for a crossbow.
My Scorpyd is the OG from Scorpyd their first crossbow they made. It's just big but it's accuracy is just nuts. This spring I'm gonna do an accuracy test at 80 yards with all my bows to see where they finish being most accurate. My guess is that it's gonna be a close race for most accurate between the R500 and my scorpyd.then 10pt and bringing up the rear will be my Excalibur.
IS there Less issues for being at 400fps compared to me being near 500fps. Not really for accuracy so to speak. But Targets are NOT I'll repeat NOT up to 500 fps bows yet. I have what I consider 2 of the best targets you can get and both fail miserably. My Ravin R500 fuses to the target. I now literally use spray lubricant to offset this fusing. Don't always work though. It gets so bad that I can easily hold the target suspended in mid air and violently shake it and it won't come out. Yes that's nuts. It takes seriously effort to get it out sometimes. That is my only downfall of the 400 vs 500 fps. In accuracy i don't see it as my Ravin R500 is incredibly accurate. If you hunt at close ranges out to say 40 yards it's not needed. But if you have areas where you can stretch it out to 70+ or so it would be amazing in that scenario. Anymore questions don't hesitate to ask.
Oh welcome to LRH

Brian
