TC Encore 300 RUM

I am considering a 300 RUM for my TC Encore I am concerned about recoil with that big magnum and such a light gun, has anyone ever used this combination?

I don't know any shop that will make a RUM barrel for the Encore. The combination of case diameter and chamber pressure really stretch the limits of the Encore. The reason you see the 416 Rigby barrels is because it operates at significantly lower pressures.

I have a slight fascination with an Encore for some reason but never owned one. But if I may suggest that a guy can run a significantly longer barrel and be the same length as a regular bolt action rifle.

Sooo... have you considered a 30" 300 Winchester Magnum??? It might match the ballistics of a 26" 300RUM.

I have and love my encore. Very compact and super easy to trick out. One issue with long barrels is the balance of the gun.

300 rum is a bit much IMO. I have a 300 wm barrel for mine and that's about where I'd put the limit for safety and recoil.

Any of the belted magnums work great in there. Something like a 300 Jarrett or 300 Weatherby improved will give you a significant bump in performance over the 300 Win Mag and still be perfectly safe in the Encore.

Encore are a ton of fun, but barrels have a tendency to "reproduce" in the safe. LOL It always starts with just one, then before you know it you've go 4 rifle barrels, a shotgun barrel and a muzzle loader!

I intend to have several barrels 6.5 creedmoor is at the top of the list as I just feel that would a good replacement for an antelope gun.
Not to mention several others I have in mind.

I personally hunt exclusively with an encore pistol. I lost my left arm and vision in my right eye by an IED explosion while serving in Iraq. since I couldn't shoot a rifle anymore I picked up an Encore and haven't looked back. I have a 15" barrel in .325 WSM that I have Taken Elk with and even a very large American Bison with. The recoil is literally for me a handful, but not overwhelming. there is a lot of movement when it recoils, but you get used to that fairly quickly. I have become very accurate with this combo out to 400 yards. I also have an 18" barrel in 6.5-284 norma that I'm looking forward to shooting.

Who made your 325 WSM barrel for you? Who ever did that would be the place for the OP to talk to about having a 300 RUM barrel made. They share the same case diameter at the web and operate at the same pressure, so if the shop was comfortable with the WSM then they'd likely be comfortable making a RUM barrel.

I spent a couple years playing around with the Encore and Contender pistols before moving to the bolt action pistols instead. The TCs are capable of some impressive performance!
