300 rum

I guess it's not too far off to mention a RUM wildcat.

I he have a 7-.338 RUM, but use 7RUM brass to take advantage of a longer neck. It regularly puts three under 1 1/2" at 300yards.

My son-in-law does the same with factory load Barnes 180 grain bullets from his .300 RUM factory Remington rifle.

I necked down the 7RUM to a 270cal.
Just finished load development now I
need to finish making them.
Settled on 130 Swift Scirocco.
H-1000 = 87.9grs , CCI250, 3575fps.
Coal= 3.820. What A Hoot To Shoot.

I've shot some Scirrocos at good speed also. They thrived with it in my experience.

I have always been a Scirocco Fan.
They like speed, I finish this past Friday verifying a load, 3rd time I shot it, 5 shots at 200yds looked like a 4leaf clover.

I just checked with my buddy . He is running the 166 gr hammers in a factory heavy barreled 26" 300 Rum @ 3581 ft.per.sec..still almost 1800 ftpounds of energy at 800 yards .

I've ran 165 Swift Scirocco in one of my 300RUMS, I would have to look tomorrow when I'm back in my shop to tell you the speed. And I find max pressure and always back off a minimum of 3grs.
And work from there, for me it's not worth running near Max. IMO

I built my rum for speed, 1in 11 twist 28" barrel to shoot 165 to 180 grains. Now the 28 nosler is just as good because cause of better bc bullets. When it time to rebarrel the rum it will get a long 1 in 9.5 twist to shoot the heavies, that is where the rum shines best for bullet bc to weight ratio and power capacity.

I just bought a 300 from another member last year, i named it "Spice" ( get it? Spice rum? -- maybe I should change it's name to "capitan") ......weighs in right about 10 lb scoped ( 10lb 5 oz with 4 rounds) --- still working on load but the 230otm is promising at 100 yards with h1000--- gonna try some hht bullets with grand powder as soon as I can get to the range next time
