Talk to me about SAUER rifles

That sauer 100 sure does look a lot like my Shr 970. I'm half way tempted to buy one just to see how the barrel attaches. I read online there's some red locktite on a couple screws.

So this is the setup I'm thinking very seriously about selling off some other "gun stuff" to fund.

The Sauer 100 HS precision Pantera chambered in .308 Winchester. It's an hs precision fibreglass stock (13.75 inch LOP compared to 14.5 for the SAUER stocks). The Pantera variants have 20 inch semi-heavy fluted and threaded barrels, and oversized bolt knobs.

This one I set up just for fun for the day with a WARNE 1 piece rem 700 LA base, vortex pro series low mount 30mm rings, and a Vortex Razor LWT 3-15x44 illuminated reticle optic. I think this would be one heck of a setup! I need it…🤣

It would compliment my much longer and heavier savage 300 win mag setup nicely as an all round hunting rifle. I love the optic too, and the rifle just balances so dang nice, and it's short and handy. Of late I've been more into long heavy guns in magnum chamberings, this would be so darn…boring!!!! In a good way maybe, practical, portable, and if this rifle isn't a shooter I'll eat my hat!!!

I'll be adding more photos and details about the Sauer 100 series overall bit by bit, but thought I'd share what's on my letter to Santa haha.

Those Pantera's are nice. The Pantera a few years ago was more like the Fieldshoot. I've tried finding one but missed the boat.

That fieldshoot type pantera we also have here. This one is in a 6.5 creed, also have one in a 6.5 PRC. This is the "wideland" camo. It has an adjustable cheek riser which is very simple, toolless, and unobtrusive. As you can see, a very beefy palm swell and a very wide flat bench type fore end.

Big crossbolt going through the stock. I also have a sneaking suspicion this may be laminated wood and not polymer like the one you shared in the picture says.

Some more pics. Note the 3 lug bolt with double plungers. The 3 position safety, and that plastic bolt knob.

Note also the magazines I mentioned, in 6.5 PRC, 223, and .270. The .223 seems especially ridiculous to me haha. The 270 fits 5, 6.5 PRC fits 4, AND…the .300 win mag not
seem here FITS 5!!!! I don't know why, but it does!

Pardon my filthy caveman hands in the pics haha

Regarding bedding…forgive me for using a variety of Sauer 100s for pics, I messed around with them some time ago and wanted to confirm they all work the same.

Anyways, in picture one is the "veil terra shadow" .300 win mag with burnt bronze cerakote. Once the bottom visible Allen screws are removed and the bottom metal lifted you'll see the front has this hex nut - a 10mm hex nut to be precise. There's also a rear action screw separate from the bottom metal screw just forward of the trigger. But that 10mm nut is threaded as is this post protruding from the barreled action). You can also see the recoil lug inlet on the bottom of the action, and that mates with an aluminum bedding block within the stock The barreled action is dropped into the stock then this nut is tightened on hard to that post…the bottom metal then is tightened onto the other side of that same nut.

I hope that makes sense.

Subjectively it does seem VERY solid and perhaps better than conventional pillar bedding where the bedding screws come out the bottom of the stock as far as sensitivity to pressures on the stock itself, but I don't know.

This is the one that got away, we already sold it haha but I admit I was looking at it real hard.

You can really see in this second pic that schnabel forend and the sling swivel stud sticking out.

Sauer 100 classic hardwood (so almost certainly dark stained beech, if they can't say "walnut" haha), 270 Winchester.

I have one in 6.5 PRC One of my best shooters! Less than 1/4" 3 shot group at 100yds. with Berger 140gr VLD 56.3 grs. RL 26 just over 3000 fps.

Just some more pics to show some different models of the Sauer 100.

Left to right Pantera HS .308, Pantera 223, veil terra shadow burnt bronze .300 win mag, Cherokee 6.5 PRC - everyone asks to see and hold this gun and love it but wish it was a different chambering - Pantera widelands 6.5 creed, classic hardwood .270 win, classic XT ceratech 6.5 creed, classic xt 6.5 PRC. The rifle on the front display that you can only see the back end of here is the classic xt LWT HS. Hs precision stock, lighter overall weight courtesy of a fluted barrel. 6.5 PRC that one is as well.

Ok, the big question, did ya measure internal lengths of the various mags?

Does the 100 have the beefy palm swell?
I thought the model 100 that I handled last year was slim unlike the pantera pictured.
