Take five minutes and contact your elected representatives and make yourselves heard. I did that already with my Congressman. Pick those who are Republican or a rural Dem who might stand a chance of voting for the bill. As has been stated on this thread, focus on the bill, not generalities. And you have to educate them, by citing facts, even though they are politicians and don't believe in facts. Here is the text of my email to him (or more likely his aides as someone stated):

Dear Rep. Lawler,

Congratulations on your re-election. As a constituent whose vote you garnered, I am writing to voice my wholehearted support for this bill, that properly removes suppressors from the NFA. Suppressors are not dangerous. They do not "silence" gunshots, but simply attenuate them just enough to make it safe for law abiding hunters and target shooters like me to not lose our hearing while allowing us hear game in the woods. In fact, the most effective suppressors on the market can only attenuate the quietest of cartridges to the sound of a jackhammer (https://americansuppressorassociation.com/education/hearing-protection/).

In many countries in Europe, suppressors are actually required for hunting, both as a safety measure to the hunter and a courtesy to others.

I implore you to take advantage of having the majority in the senate and the white house to persuade those colleagues across the aisle who have common sense to pass this bill into law, and making the country see the value in these tools that has been around for over 100 years and do not belong on the NFA by any stretch of rational thinking.

I agree with one post, personal correspondence is the way to go, so please don't just copy and paste this--put it into your own words that mean something to you.

We don't need the NFA to regulate cans or full auto. It will regulate itself. These cans are not cheap and as many point out, they are not 'Hollywood' quiet.
Full auto is EXPENSIVE. And ever price an M240?
Not many can afford these things or can afford to feed them.

Oh and I'm sick of the MYTH that the Mexican cartels are arming themselves with guns from the US. Maybe a few but last I checked, there isn't that many gold plated, full auto AK-47's in US gun stores. Why would they go through the hassle we're faced with, they can buy them direct from Russia or whatever other country.

ALL gun laws - including full automatics and suppressors - are unconstitutional. Period. We are held captive by the fools that bigger fools elect. Society is always at the mercy of their elected "leadership", which more often than not are nothing less than corrupt criminals who are the minions of the power monger elite.

I don't expect any relief during the Donald's 2nd administration - he's got way too much on his plate already to rectify in the next four short years, if he lives.

By far the biggest problem with any society is the growth of citizen fools who drink the crazy ideology kool aid. As I'm sure most everyone already knows the tax stamp laws are completely unconstitutional. However that will never stop government from trying to arrest more and more control over people. Funny how the 1936 gun control act was challenged by only one person that was shot down right before the supreme Court hearing. Reminds me of all the money missing from the Haitian hurricane disaster back in the 90's with Bill Clinton and all the money disappeared and the day before the Haitian diplomat was to appear before the Senate he had a bar bell crush his throat the night before while working out.

If people would have just told the government we will not comply you would still be able to by full auto guns at the gas station. The rise of the Glock Switch proves you to be correct. The actual parts for conversion in most guns are incredibly inexpensive, and even able to be made DIY my moderately capable people.

A belt-fed would still be expensive in the same way a Wilson Combat AR is expensive - people buying those things are looking for specific details and not mass produced garbage, and there probably isn't a huge market for them legal or not because they're big, heavy, and not really practical for anything. I legally own a full-auto belt-fed, and it pretty much just collects dust until a friend wants to pay for $200 of ammo to rip through for the giggles of it.

But you could bet cash money that High Point would make a Mac-10 clone that costs $99

When contacting your elected officials, please specifically reference the Silencers Helping Us Save Hearing (SHUSH) Act introduced in July 2024 by Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) and co-sponsored but Sens. Rick Scott (R-FL), Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), and John Cornyn (R-TX). It aims to:

• Eliminate federal regulation of suppressors as firearms under the National Firearms Act (NFA) and the Gun Control Act (GCA).
• Remove existing taxes, fees, and registration requirements associated with suppressors.
• Allow current or retired law enforcement officers to carry concealed firearms with suppressors.
• Preempt state regulations on the manufacture, transfer, transport, or possession of suppressors.
• Strike provisions requiring mandatory minimum sentences for suppressor possession in certain cases.
• Exempt suppressors from regulation by the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
• Provide a provision for a refund of the $200 transfer tax for anyone who purchased a suppressor within two years prior to the enactment of the bill.

If passed, the SHUSH Act will work alongside the Hearing Protection Act to further deregulate suppressors and remove them from the Gun Control Act of 1968.

This Act would help those of us in communist states like California, by specifically preempting our state laws.
