I had worked reducing a load in a 30.06 for a young boy using IMR SR4759. I had trouble finding IMR SR4759 , I did find some . I had problems with hang fires . I believe it was due to the large case capacity of the 30.06 , the powder could get to far away from the primer . if I tipped the rifle bbl up then lowered to the target it would fire normally . I tried using a case filler , dacron , to hold the powder back against the primer but the powder mixed in with the filler giving me the same hang fire problem . I don't think it was a powder problem , I think it was just a bad combination . just keep this hang fire on your mind when using reduced loads . it can cause a very high pressure spike , just like to much powder .
