Hello everyone, I would like to have your opinion on my choice of equipment to start.
My rifle is a Cadex 338 lapua Mag and has 2 chassis, a shepherd and a Lite Competition. My initial choice was to do sport shooting and hunting with the same caliber.
But afterwards to avoid redoing all the settings, I decided to order a canon 300PRC and a scope burris 6 to install on the remaining frame.
the choice of the 300 PRC is that I intend to refill my own cartridges and that the primers for the 338 and the 300 are the same.
Last detail, I don't know what to use for hunting and long-distance sport shooting between the 338 and the 300.
I'm aiming for big game' moose and grizzly bears

Your opinion? Thanks in advance

Sorry for my english, I'm french and I use a translate;)

For a do all in both rifles...Both were easy to get shooting. In a 300 RUM and a 338 Lapua.

300 PRC= 245gr Berger

338 Lapua=300gr Berger

Depends on your use.

Hunting, recommended manufacturer minimum function. You will have to get the velocties out of YOUR rifle and put it in a calculator. Then practice, practice, practice. No when to not shoot.

Targets, as far as you can call wind.

Easy button for both. Both can be purchased as components.

ok thank you I'll look into it. I received my kestrel 5700 to do my ballistic and I'm waiting for my Garmin xero C1, I hope it will be as good as people say it is.
I train quite a bit on weekends, about 80 cartridges per session, but I should start reloading because I'm accumulating and it takes time.
338 ammunition is expensive here in Canada, about $200 CAD for a box of 20 Hornady eldx 270gr Precision Hunter.

Yeah, pretty pricey here as well. Gotta load to shoot.

My current load with the 270 ELDX is 91gr H1000 in Lapua brass. Not super fast out of my 22" barrel, but shoots good.

I just saw your ammunition it has a good reputation according to the comments, it is cheaper by 60$ CAN at your place than at mine. I would like to order from you but it's complicated with customs.
I saw this, what are these Hybrid ammunition?
Diesel and gas propulsion😅?

Berger Ammunition: .338 Lapua Mag 300gr Hybrid Target, 20/Box

your powder does not clog the gun much? there's one who uses a powder here, with each shot it looks like my Ram diesel starting. He spends his time cleaning his rifle, he tells me it's cheap. To each his own

Have you given any thought to a cheaper caliber just for training on the fundamentals such as a 223/5.56 or possibly a 6 mm ? You could save some money and still enjoy shooting.

Hi,
Yes I had thought about it with the 6.5 Creed, but I didn't want to have several guns, so I bought a rifle with 2 different frames (hunting and sport shooting) to be able to hit bear or moose with big caliber.
In addition for reloading the casing uses the same primer and powder, if I listened to myself I would have a collection of rifles, but the budget would take a slap.
currently with the 2 rifles and all the equipment plus the ballistics I am close to $30,000 CAD... So we're going to stop there.

It's a pleasure that is certainly expensive, but I assume it.
