I was told to try and keep my SD under 9 and my ES under 20. Some guy told me, so it has to be sage advice. At the end of the day if I'm a half minute at 300 (as far as I can reasonably test) and I have less than .5 MOA vertical dispersion at that distance, I'm happy. Probably a gross over simplification, but I'm a Simple kind of Man.
We also have steel gongs at the range, measuring 1.5", 3", 6" and 8". If I'm banging the 1.5 and the 3" consistently, I don't sweat it. Sometimes it takes a little pressure off and I seem to be more relaxed and shoot better at the gongs.
