A Quickload simulation using 3.340" OAL, Win brass, 26" barrel, RL-17
190gr VLD Max 68.0gr at 3000fps, start should be ~63.5gr.
208gr AMAX Max 66.6gr at 2867fps, start should be around ~62.1gr.
Remember this is only a simulation. According to Quickload you would get about 100 fps more for the 208gr AMAX using Ramshot Magnum, Accurate Magpro, IMR 7828 SSC, and 80 fps more using RL-22 (best to lesser).
The above 4 alternate powders would also give higher velocity with 190gr VLD, at 60-90fps more than RL-17.
I have to agree - according to QuickLOAD RL17 isn't nearly as good a powder for the either of those bullets as RL25. For 150g bullets RL22. I think RL19 is too fast a powder to be optimum in the .300WM. That said, it might work in the poster's rifle.
