Lately i have been contacted by several asking if i was OK because i had not been posting here on LRH.com much at all. I am fine, just the crazy zoo time of year for me in the shop.
Was able to finish two rifles this week and get them out to the range. These two rifles show the Split Personality possible with some of my wildcats.
The first rifle is one of my Stalker UL Mag rifles chambered in my 26 Stalker. Loaded with the 156 gr berger elite hunter and loaded to a very comfortable 3400 fps. This model of my Stalker uses the UL version of my Stalker receiver, #3 fluted 8,5 twist Batlein SS barrel with 26" finish length and a carbon fiber McMillan Game Hunter stock. Triggertech Special trigger set at 1.25 lbs, alloy hinged floorplate internal mag system and my small PK muzzle brake. Right around 7 lbs bare rifle weight. Now many will be screaming that is not true UL weight……. I would say for this level of performance with full length barrel, full dimension stock and all steel components, this is a pretty low weight to power ratio.
The 156 gr berger loaded to these velocities are pretty special ballistically and do a good job terminally as well.
Could be argued the ultimate sheep rifle but just ws at home for any other big game hunting as well. Easy to pack all day, very low felt recoil and legit 1k power and precision.
The second rifle demonstrates the sheer raw velocity potential. This one is one of my standard Stalker Hunter models, chambered in the screamer 25 Stalker wildcat.
This Stalker Hunter uses my standard Stalker receiver, 27" #4 fluted bartlein SS 9 twist barrel, standard weight McMillan Game Hunter stock. Same trigger and bottom metal as above rifle. This one comes in at around 8.5 lbs bare rifle weight. We used the 101 gr barnes LRX in this rifle loaded to a very comfortable 4000 fps and it is a legit laser beam to 500 yards. Tested the rifle at my standard 800 yards for accuracy testing and it performed extremely well. Absolutely zero recoil to speak of. This load produced 8 loading on a single case and primer pockets were still holding just fine. Suspect 10 firings will be realistic per case. Or, one could up velocity to 4100 fps but have to live with 4-5 firings per case max. I would rather have the case life!

The 26 Stalker, in the same rifle can be loaded with the 156 gr to this 3400 fps level, or a 140 gr class pill at 3500 fps, or a 127-130 gr at 3700 fps or a 100 gr weight projo at +4000 fps easily.
The 25 Stalker does not have AS WIDE of a projo selection but if properly designed, can drive the 130-135 gr pills into the 3600-3700 fps range, 110-115 gr to 3800-3850 fps and 100 gr to 4000 fps.
Both can go from legit 1k big game options to 500 yard laser flat trajectory rigs.
Yes they are extreme, not recommended for prairie dog hunting for sure but you dont often use a top fuel dragster as a daily driver either.
