Air cleaner lid upside-down on a v-8, is just like a coffee can exhaust on an import car nowadays---- Lotta noise, but not much more go

Imagine if fuel injection came out before the carburetor. I wonder how many people could actually rebuild a carb these days ? There are a few tricks to the trade.

The hum of a 4 barrel sucking air on a V8 was a sweet chorus as soon high school let out. Combined with smell of burnt rubber it was a daily ritual. This brings back some fond memories.

If only they were electric back then...but the country girls were waaay out there...
Long ways on bicycle......not worth it....lol

I think your thinking of my dads 73.. surprisingly i put gas in it last November and a battery truck started right up after sitting 23 years. I drove it into town lol.

My mother couldn't figure out why she had to replace the rear tires on the Pontiac Catalina so often. Then I got used 66 GTO. Stopped doing burn outs when I had to buy the tires. 389 ,electric fuel pump on duel line Holly. Not great on the jump, but between 40 and 80 it pinned you to the seat. If it had better tires to get it off the line it would have been a great red light racer.

How many remember turning the key off and givin the pedal a couple of pumps then turnin the key back on right when you passed a bicyclist.

Only with a stick of course

+ 1000 , had a 73 Olds with a "Rocket" 455 it sounded like a F4 Phantom when the secondary's kicked in on that Rochester!!! Memories indeed!!!

I liked quiet...drive closer to girls house without parents hearing......they probably heard enough as was......

My wife and I have been together since we were 16, I used to park the hotrod two streets away and hop their fence to sneak in... I'd still walk two streets LOL

Tires were a big issue when I was a teen. This was back when cars were king in my book. I had a 428 in a 69' Pontiac as my first car. A buddy had a 71 396 Chevelle. I had to haul a lot of hay and cut a lot of grass to keep tires and gas in my car.

Do we credit chevy for the mfi in corvettes. My 65 didn't have it as someone put a 350 in it. I miss that car as I wrapped my *** in fiberglass when going airborne then upside down.
