Slow twist 7mm rem mag bullet choice

I have a 7Rm 1-10 twist and using a twist calculator I found bullet length over 1.370" starts to become marginal. The cup core bullets I found in the mid weight range were the Berger 168 classics 168 SMK Speer 160 boat tail and Speer 175 grand slam. I have shot Nosler 160 accubonds with a marginal group of 1.5" at 100 yards. Witch the are 1.385" so that confirms what the twist calculator says. I'm at 1000' elevation if your high you might get away with a longer bullet.
Have you actually shot those bullets? (aside from the 160 Accu's)

IMO, everything on the OP's original list/post are long bullets which IMO will more than likely be a push as to whether or not they'll work.

I'm still in the camp of the 139 Horn SP (not the boat tail), and or the 120 TTSX and I'd give the 132 Hammer a go as well as I like they're company and I like supporting a local company.

I would take a look at the 7mm Nosler Partition 160 gr. All depends on the distances to plan to shoot, but I have killed 2 bulls with this bullet out of my 7mm Rem Mag. Think it is a 9.5 twist. Killed one at 30 yards and the other at 285 yards. Both bullets broke the shoulder bones and made it clear to the other side. This is an excellent bullet for elk out of a 7 Rem mag. And you can buy them right now TODAY!

I have not just going of the twist calculator.

I run 168gr. VLD's out of my 7RM with excellent results. However, mine has the more common 1:9-1/4 twist in it. That said, if I was starting from scratch, I'd get some 132gr. Hammer HHT's, push them until I got pressure and adjust downward until I was satisfied - which probably won't take very long.

I'm between 1,600-2,000ft elevation.
My 7mm Rem Mag is a 1:9.25 twist.

My 7mm Weatherby Magnum is however a 1:10 twist.
Why Weatherby still insists on using a 1:10 twist in their Mark V is anyone's guess!!

But it has performed well with everything up to and including the 175gr Nosler ABLR.

What I didn't like was the recoil, for a light weight hunting rifle with that heavy of a bullet.

Heaviest I shoot now is the 168gr Berger Classic Hunter in both rifles.
