Slab Muzzle Brakes

Just curious, any advantage to a slab style muzzle brake (like a Pain Killer) over a more typical round, side ported brake? I currently only have side ported round brakes.

For what it's worth, it would be for a 300 RUM with a steel barrel ( so not ultra light).
 
Additional port size/surface area & port angles where the gases push against & escape may be of benefit for reducing felt recoil.
Either via angled ports, V-shaped dual angles,
or longer port length via width. 🤔
