I'm working on an old vanguard, but I'm not a fan of the old straight fluted bolts, so I took a howa 1500 bolt and put it in it and modified the bolt to fit. Here's a few pictures of the angle I had to cut on the back of the action. This one will get fluted and the action lightened up with a mill, but I haven't decided on a barrel yet. Carbon, steel fluted... there's so many options. But the stock I think I'll go with a stockys carbon.

What is your load? Speed? Barrel length? Curious how yours compares to the 270ss's I've had.

26" barrel 60 gr h1000 at 2.955, 170 berger, to fire form. I don't remember the speed off the top of my head, but I'll be doing some rl26 load work up this week.

I have one rifle and my second barrel on it. First barrel was 24" and this time around I went 19" rem varmint to run suppressed. I shoot the 165 Matrix at 2860 fps with n570. Also have a load with the 145 eldx at 3015 fps with Rl 23 that my wife has killed 2 cow elk with. One at 200 yards and other at 480.

RL-26 location....anyone? Also pet loads for 6.8 Western for anyone running one.

What bullets are you interested in for 6.8 Western? I've loaded up 145 ELDX, 170 EOL, and 165 ABLR.
