Lots of love for the 6mm BR. I think I'm going to plan on picking up a cheap Remington 700 and go from there. I'll have a ton of options at that point and can make a decision then.
MOAR PICS.
MOAR PICS.
That is a nice rig said:Yes, it is Rem 700 Police trued action with Jewel BR trigger. (probably 2 or 3 oz pull).
The stock is McMillan A-5 Adj Cheek.
Krieger barrel at 28" Heavy Varmint.
Sightron SIII 10-50x60 LRIRMOA
6BR Lapua brass
105 Berger Target Hybrid
I've already ordered Defiance Deviant Tactical Long Action Left Hand with 30 MOA rail and integral lug. Will use it for 6 Dasher, 284 Shehane and 338 Lapua Mag Imp. (separate/extra bolt)
It costs me about $0.35 a round (not including brass, because it's reuseable) to handload for my .308 Win (with Nosler Custom Comps). With Bergers it's around $0.65 per round.Do none of you practice with anything other then 308,300,338,7mm? I wish I had the budget that you all must have to be able to shoot thousands of play practice rounds. I'll continue to play/practice with 22/.17HMR and shoot 308/270/30-.06 other fun stuff less often. Plus it is easier for me to go to a 300 yard range and shoot 22/.17HMR to practice long range skills then go to the 1000 yard range.
Touché' lol Now where did you find the varget? It costs me about $0.35 a round (not including brass, because it's reuseable) to handload for my .308 Win (with Nosler Custom Comps). With Bergers it's around $0.65 per round.
44gr of Varget costs about $0.053 per load (if powder costs $30/lb)
Nosler CC 168's cost $0.25 each in 1000rd bulk pack
Fed 210M's cost about $0.05 each if you buy a 1K brick
And brass doesn't count in my factor because it's a reuseable resource.
That means I can load 100 rounds of ultra-high quality .308 for $35.00... That's pretty **** cheap. And the Hornady .17 HMR 20gr loads (what I shoot out of my .17's), cost about $0.27 per round.
Hornady Varmint Express Ammo 17 Hornady Mag Rimfire (HMR) 20 Grain XTP
I find it at my local store......And when I do, I buy about 6 lbs at a time. I have a small stash for rainy days...Touché' lol Now where did you find the varget?
sorry no pics but the 6 br is hard to beat cheap to load no recoil and can practice at distance for wind callsAny of you guys have "practice rifles?" I finally finished up my .300 win mag for long range target shooting and I have a little money leftover to play with. Rather than blowing through barrels and icing my shoulder after every time I go to the range, I'm thinking about a smaller caliber rig that I can shoot to my heart's content.
So let's see 'em! Post up your practice rifle setups. The little varmint shooters that you can shoot for hours without having to worry about ammo or being sore the next day.
Bonus points for pictures
Yeah I did some math and decided I might as well shoot 223 out of my Ruger RPR instead of buying match 22lr....if I buy components in bulk.It costs me about $0.35 a round (not including brass, because it's reuseable) to handload for my .308 Win (with Nosler Custom Comps). With Bergers it's around $0.65 per round.
