I curremtly own a 300winmag. Ive been doing dome thinking and want to shot the high bc .308 bullets 200grn+. Would it be worth my money to rechamber my 300wm to a 300rum. This will be my lomgrange hunting rifle. All opinons welcome.

Thanks

I shoot a 300RUM w/ 208 Amax over h1000. My acuracy load is just over 3000fps (not really that fast compared to some 208/210gr RUM loads). I have read more than once about 300WM with h1000 and a 208 Amax around 2900-2950. I have no experience with the 210VLD, I never loaded any of the ones I bought, my Amax shot really well; .5MOA or less if I do my part. I also don't have any experience with anything in the 200 or 240s.

A 200 +grn bullet at 3100-3200 would be a longrange hammer. I just don't know with me having a 300wm if it would be worth te money.

So shoot high BC bullets in your 300 win mag no need for a rum to shoot high BC bullets. My rifle is a 300 win mag and I shoot 200+g bullets. As do many others here on the site.

Chiming in here........

I agree w/those that say to stick w/the 300 WM. Put the money in optics/reticle and turrets. The 300 WM won't let you down......

I own both a 300rum and wsm. And shoot the 210bergers in my rum and 208amax in my wsm and honestly the wsm only gives up about 250 yards to the rum. You should have no problems. If you really wanna have some fun, order some 180gr Cutting Edge solids with a b.c. of .600 and let 'er rip!
