I use the sig 2400abs . it is about maxed out at 2000 yards . it gives dope to as far as it will range . been trying to get hooked up with another forum member to go shooting , he has the leica 3500. he says it ranges well and he has his synced to a kestrel . this would give dope to as far as it will range . I'd sure like to see how well it works in the same conditions as my sig . the new revic BR4 is limited to 2000 yards for giving dope .
we have a range set up that goes from 600 - 2000 yards from one firing line , then we can back up from there shooting at the 2000 yard target . I'm going to try using the free app , " measure map" . I'll go to the 2000 target and put a way point on the app . then I should be able to shoot from any location and check the distance on the app . I can put the distance in the kestrel and get my dope .
if you're going to place a target , then go away and shoot , I think this app will work . if you're wanting to go out for a walk and pick out an object , range and shoot, the app won't be of much help for you .

According to what you wanna spend.
I'm still using a Vortex Razor 4000. Around 500 bucks. Doesn't do math or wind. Just distance.

Vectronix PLRF15 and Vortex Fury 5000 AB are two units we use in ELR

1550 nm lasers are really your only option when it comes to ranging beyond 1500 yards or so. Vectronix uses a 1550 nm laser but Vortex Fury is 905 nm. Interesting you lumped the two together.

So far the only 1550 nm laser mentioned is the Vectronix. Once you have used a 1550 nm laser, you realize why military grade eye safe RFs use them. No more ranging 10 times to try and figure the range. Once does it but twice always confirms. But they are not cheap.
Have you tried the Revic BR4?

I have not but a LRH friend has one. The beam divergence of the BR4 is indeed impressive, but the price makes me believe it is a 905 nm RF. I would have to say for the price, it appears to be the best out there.
I have owned my BR4 for about 6 months but so far I have had been able to get first click ranges(confirmed) past 1500 yards. The 10x magnification, and very capable ballistic calculator are added bonuses.
The Terrapin is still one of the best options for pure ranging ability, and I wouldn't trade mine for any other unit. The newer TerrapinX is in the same performance range, but couldn't keep up with an original Terrapin when we did a side by side comparison.

Sig Kilo 8 for Range Finder, used it this am and was able to range out to 6,000 while doing some final seating depth testing
