Since Remington knows of the problem, have they started to put a longer screw in the front end when they put them together?

No way to know. They just said it was common. Apparantly not all are affected. Just pull your bolt back and look and see if you can see a screw in there. If not yours is too short. I will fit mine so it has 100 percent thread engagement. There was no charge for a replacement screw.

The thread issue might have only occoured with one batch of stocks so they would not know what rifles are effected. Nay way they are fixing your problem for free so that is what is supposed to happen you cand bag them for their help i wish more companies would back their products the same way.
