Does anyone know what is causing my scope to slide towards to recoil pad of the gun? You can see the shift marks where the scope was originally mounted in the attached pictures.

This is the second time that these Vortex Precision Match Grade rings have done this to me. They are loctited and torqued to Vortex specs. Is the recoil on my .300WM too much for these rings (I wouldn't think so)? It's about impossible to develop a load when a scope is moving lol.

At this point, I'm seriously considering sidelining these rings and buying myself a set of Hawkins.

How much could this slight shift change POI?

I would agree, have never had a problem with anything Vortex related until this point. I don't know what else could be going on besides a bad set of rings lol. When I mounted the scope I made sure that everything was torqued properly and used the wheeler kit to make sure everything aligned perfectly (which it did even without lapping the rings)

Scope tube out of spec? (smaller diameter) Or maybe the torque wrench is off?
I wouldn't think a Nightforce would be that far out of spec, but I guess it's a possibility.

Is a brand new Wheeler torque wrench, I'll hit the screws with my older one and see - so again, I wouldn't think that would be the issue, but its worth a shot for sure!

If your going to keep these, then BED the scope….problem solved. Unless you have the wrong diameter rings for the scope diameter.
Just double checked and the diameter is correct.

Is bedding the scope permanent? What happens if you ever want to swap rings or something??

No it is not permanent. Place release agent on scope tube. Check out some YouTube videos on how to perform.
Going to watch some YouTube videos on it now.

I've never had to bed rings before! Especially ones that are suppose to be this good!

What rings do you run and do you bed all of them?
