Hello everyone! I would be interested in what you think would be better for European night hunting Nightforce shv or Leupold vx-6HD?
I see its your first post. Welcome to the LRH forum.
This thread is going to be in regards to the original poster's (OP) question.
If you go back to the long range optics forum and feel free to post your question as a "new post." There will be many people who will be willing to discuss your topic with you.

Gents thanks for all the advice! This is a little bit older thread so I thought I would update everyone. With all the options and features everyone mentioned, I went a little bit different route, trying to get all those features but still cheap enough for 4 rifles. I got 2 x Athlon ares in 2.5 x 15 x 50 mm and 2 x Athlon Cronus. They were cheap (relative term) enough with all the features I wanted. Dfanonymous thanks for your input as well. Went the route you spoke as far as FFP, and lower variable, but I did MOA since that's what I've been brought up on.

Both scope models are really nice, but the Cronus is truely a step above. Only complaint about the Cronus is that it goes up to 29x power!! I don't think I'll ever use it past 20. Another issue is I did take a risk by getting scopes from a relatively new company, but out of the box they have not disappointed. I need to run them through my first PRS match to see how they really hold up though.

I have had good luck with Bushnell LRHS and XRS...they have been very reliable. I 3 LRPs in the past 4 months and have been very happy with them for the price. I gave around $750 for them they have tracked perfect and the glass is very good--- I wished the turrets were short like the LRHS but they track and glass is almost as good as my Mark 6s and I'd say a bit better than my Gen1 bushnell XRS.

I really wish I could have found some of the Bushnell 6500 and lrs scopes locally to look through but Sportsman phased them out last year I am glad you found. a great scope

Great video.. I was particularly interested in the glare test and have often wondered how much the manufacturers pay attention to this. I have a particular stand in Alberta that has produced good whitetails over the past several years. The big issue is that the bucks show up at sunset from the west at 500-700 yards and the orange/yellow glare has been a major issue often causing me to wait for a clear shot, or loose the opportunity all together. A few months ago I was able to replicate the condition out my basement door at sunset and took the opportunity to compare a few of my scopes. My NF ATACR, NXS,Vortex AMG and Huskemaw all had severe haze issues that obstructed a clear shot at a 300 yard grey rock about the size of a bucks chest. The clear winner of the lot with only a slight yellow tint, but crisp view of the rock was my March 5x25x52.
