Aaron says that bullets kill by blood loss only. If that's the case, why would any animal fold up and drop like a stone when hit? Could be from brain or spinal hit. But some animals drop from a stop through the lungs. That sounds more like a shock effect than blood loss.

Just because the animal drops to the ground and doesn't get up doesn't change the fact that they only die due to blood loss.

A running joke that I used to have with my Dad before he passed was to answer "What did he die of?" With "Lack of oxygen to the brain". That is really the only mechanism that causes death.

If you disrupt the Central Nervous System with direct hits or shock, the animal may drop, but if you don't cause significant blood loss, eventually they will get back up and take off. Most of the time they expire while laying there.

I listened to a podcast that had a hunter/doctor he said those shots are due to the bullet striking the vascular system that cause a blood pressure spike in the brain...stroke. it will not always happen but can.
