Ohhh, thats way too easy!!!Read post 36, please! He admits putting a 300 in it.
That's flat earth talk. ..300 Blk will chamber & fire in a .223 Rem/5.56mm gun. And it will take that .30 cal bullet that weighs 120gr right on down to .224 diameter. Mystery solved. Next comes the denials & that's not possible but the proof is in the weight & length of that projectile shown.
Mfg. should issue recall for the ammo involved. Contact them and distributor immediately.
Others should stop using that ammo.
From watching the video, it's pretty clear this is what happened to OP. Every symptom exactly the same. This is just one of many links showing it happens.
LFD Research Films the Firing of .300 Blackout in a .223/5.56 Chamber
LFD Research simulated a catastrophic failure by chambering a .300 Blackout round into 5.56 AR-15 and filming it in slow motion.www.thefirearmblog.com
And you are right @Coyote Shadow Tracker , it's scary it can happen. People that have both (.223/5.56 & .300BLK) have to be very cautious.
once a thread gets more than half a dozen pages, it becomes pretty tedious to read, especially with the limited number of posts allowed per page. And this one is up to 14 pages alreadyRead post 36, please! He admits putting a 300 in it.
It is my understanding that most 300 blk is made from 556 brass cut down (reloaded) unless factory load! Now there should be a look at the manufacture of the round in ? to see if they possibly could have mixed one in the box??I'd like to see the head stamp wiped clean and a close up pic of it…

Everyone should use caution when loading magazines with "store bought" ammo. I've seen where ammo was erroneously replaced in the wrong box by a shopper comparing two calibers. Pulls one round from each box, fondles them, "accidently" replaces into switched boxes. That bullet is a mistake, obviously. I cannot imagine the safeguards that had to fail to allow that bullet to be loaded and sold. Share the ammo manufacturer and type with us please, so we can check what we have.
