Grouse I did not want to get political I just referred to the upcoming election (not left or right) as a possible triggering mechanism for some people's actions Have a nice day😁
The Current hoarding phenomenon has Zero to do with the election and everything to do with corona. Think TP, flour, etc. have you tried to buy screws at the hardware store lately? Oh and if you want to get political? We're in the current pandemic due to inadequate action on behalf of this administration.

I have excess primers and powder. More than a lifetime supply. So much I have to store it in many different places to be compliant with the fire code. I bet some of you gripe about me hoarding because I won't sell it to you for what I paid for it many years ago.
At the same time some gripe because someone is selling for the current stupid panic prices.
In an attempt to keep my part of this civil I will point out this is not a new problem.
Millennials:
I realize that I am dumber than dirt in your opinion because I am a boomer but you might learn something by googling the story of the "Ants and the Grasshopper". Take note, it is not really just a fable.

Ants and grasshoppers makes an excellent analogy.

There's gonna be another election in four years kids, start your shopping early.

Of course the ants ended up eating the grasshopper but that is not in the little kids version of the story.

I guess you need a civics lesson. We live in a Constitutional Republic. The governors are in charge of their state. God help us if local problems get seen to by Washington. Looks to me like the current administration gave them all that the asked for , and more. And, travel was suspended from China and then Europe even before the medical 'experts' recommended it. No one, I repeat,,, No one know what to expect when this hit us. Just as the President can not call out The Guard to quell the riots without the Governors request, he can not tell them how to manage any emergency, he can only "recommend". The governors can either except or reject those recommendations.
Shortgrass: You may be short on grass, but you are long on intelligence. Proud to know there are more than plenty of smart, informed people that like to shoot rifles, load bullets, and hike long distances. 'nuff said.

I'm a little on the fence with this one. Honestly, if he would auction the powder on GunBroker, it would bring however much it was truly worth to a buyer. I guess he's got it priced at what he thinks he might squeeze out of it. I've got a regular factory rifle that's got a lot of good family memories with it. I couldn't sell it. It would take an astronaumical number to buy it, and I don't even know if I would sell it then, but that's a different scenario. There's some Amish that live not too far from me and while I don't necessarily believe all of what they believe, they are good people. They don't believe in making an unfair profit. If they had the only goose that laid a golden egg and wanted to sell it, then you could buy it from them way cheaper than if Warren Buffet had it. I do believe capitolizm is the best method. Good Rule of thumb..... Let your conscience be your guide. That's straight from the 1940 cartoon Pinocchio. If you or your kids haven't saw it, you need to watch it. It's got some good moral aspects to it that would go along way with kids today. There's probably some folks in the slammer today that might not be there if they had watched Pinocchio a few times.

Let's back up the turnip truck here. This is not price gouging by the seller. It is foolish spending by the buyers. The OP has run out a red herring. The seller set an asking bid below the normal retail price. Buyers chose to drive up the price to outrageous heights. That's all on them. Was the seller supposed to stop the bidding once it reached a "reasonable" limit and complete the sale? Auctions do not work that way. This is not a retailer setting a gouging sale price. And no, I am not involved in any of these transactions.

I didn't realize it was an auction. I thought it was a buy it now. But yes, hence why I said if it was auctioned it would sell for the true value of what it was to a particular buyer. I'm not saying this is what's going on but it does sometimes: I've saw the same used rifle on GunBroker auctioned over and over again for months going on. I really can't imagine that there were that many non payers.
