Scalpers are out of control

there were people paying $60+ for bricks of .22LR in 2013 after the sandy hook shooting. if people want to pay it, then let them. my way of protesting that was to not pay those kinds of prices. eventually, things settled down and got back to normal. then trump won and prices were great for about 3 years. that's when you prepare for the next panic. i'm well stocked with everything because i was buying when the getting was good.
Right there with you. When .22 got too expensive I started shooting other stuff. I regret not buying a case of Aguila from Midsouths 2019 black Friday sale for $180, but otherwise I'll be ok for a while.

As others have said, if you're looking for a particular powder or primer it gets tough, but if you're flexible things are always popping up locally or online. I don't normally use Federal large rifle primers, but that's what they had so I guess it's time to work up a new load. Same for powder, trying IMR4451 when I normally wouldn't have bought it, good results so far.

Buy what you need and help others if you can, focus more on other hobbies in the meantime. I'm dialing up the hiking to get ready for hunting season and shooting a little less. If people stop buying primers at $100+ a brick then they'll stop costing that. If you choose to buy, that's your choice, but it's only dragging this out longer.

I have a friend who wants to get into reloading but nothings available, easy opportunity for me to help him out and just found brass today. Not a brand I've used before or a shop I've frequented before, but as good a time as any to try.

This is hard to swallow even as a capitalist...

Im trying to think of what I reload that costs more than the $90/100 they're asking for those minimags. I guess hunting loads with accubonds get up there. I'd rather shoot that than my 22 at that point. The flip side is I've seen minimags locally for much more reasonable prices, still too rich for my blood, but nothing that make me think "I'll never shop here again".

You do realize that Medicare for all would also be paid for with our tax dollars...............as is everything the government spends money on. Just sayin'....
I didn't say anything about Medicare for all. I said social security isn't socialism.

Your grammatical errors might suggest otherwise. And notice I said "many", not all. But, I'm very happy for you that you think that you and everyone you know is really bright.
It's not what I think. It's what I know. Again, speak for yourself.

True, that is part of what you said. The rest of what you said is that SS isn't socialist because it's paid for with our tax dollars. So, by your definition, nothing the government does would be considered socialist because the government is literally funded with our tax dollars. What I wanted to point out is that the right accuses the left of all being socialists for some reason. My best guess is that it's because the left mostly supports healthcare for all. I'm simply pointing out that, by that definition, healthcare for all would not be a socialist program....
Yes it would. On that I can agree.

Medicare for all would definitely be a socialist program.

The left wants to give us all socialized medicine. (Medicare for all) You can bet that the House and the Senate will opt-out of their new plan as they did with Obama Care. Socialized Medicare for all is socialism in its truest form. The left, for some reason that I will never understand, wants to control every aspect of American life. For those of you who may not understand what it will be like to live with socialized medicine, ask a veteran what it was like dealing with the Veteran's Administration (VA) in the past.
