Hey guys I just bought my 1st AR it's the savage 224 Valkyrie. I would like opinions on a scope for close an up to 5-600 yard shots. This was a smoking deal I thought so I bought 1

Wishing you better luck with yours than mine. Great cartridge but mine won't do better than 1 MOA (5 shots).
As for a scope, you want quality. Most folks go for high Xs and don't spend enough. I've tried several scopes on mine and currently running a 6.5-20x40 Nikon that is 10 years old. Buddy of mine bought one.. He lined it up with cheap Federal American Eagle 75 grain FMJ's.. an it shot 1 ragged hole 5 shots. but that's all he has shot through it so far

Depends what you plan to shoot at 600. That's a good scope.

Since this is not so much a tactical gun, I may go ahead an put a long range scope on it VS a lot of 223 AR guys puts 1-6 or 1-8 powers on there's
