Savage 99 Issue

I just picked up an old Savage Model 99 in .243 Win that is in almost mint condition. When I took it to the range to sight it in, I could barely get it on the paper at 25 yards. Thinking there was something wrong with the scope (Nikon 3x9 BDC), I put a new Sig-Sauer on it. Got the same results. Swapped out the rings, same problem. It shoots so far to the right that I am bottoming out the scope adjustments to try to compensate for it. Could my receiver be tapped off-center? Is there anything that can be done, or is this thing just a dud?

I had that problem years ago and solved it with a Redfield base and rings. The JR base.

Haven't switched the bases yet. I have Weaver rings on it right now.

The Redfield have a dovetail in front and are windage adjustable.

Do you know if those are still available new, or do I have to look at the used market?

Some of those did not come drilled and tapped from the factory so your holes could be off a little bit.

I think that is exactly what happened. Can't get it to come left far enough. Same thing happened to me with a Marlin 336 years ago.
