i use a sako trg s with 28" Lothar Walther barrel +Muzzle break or hausken mega xtrem 2 feet silencer .
i load 97 gr Retumbo with 250 gr barnes tsx or 96 gr with Lapua scenar -same point of impact .
250 gr are good enough for shoot holes in 6mm steelplate at 763 m distance . the sako trg s was produced up to 1996 and since this time there is an nightforce nxs 5,5 x22 on top . weight of rifle is 12 lbs and since this time i use barnes bullets . about burris scope i can say there are better optics but they work my only concern would be the recoil of the 338 lm and batterie - for example batterie not like cold . and over all best scopes are worth nothing if shooter isn t able to handle rifle and distance.
means long range or extrem long range is practice practice ........... pic shows impacts of lapua scenar and barnes bullets , holes are made by barnes at 763 m distance or 834,4 yard and 6 mm steel is 0,236 inch
