Ruger #1 Brass Has Ridges?

I just use a lee neck size die in my #1 and #3.
Before you do anything else try necksizing a handful of once fired cases and reload them to ascertain if they function okay.
I've never had any problems like this either in my 308 #1 or the 223 #3 I have and they only ever get neck sized.
The only time I full length size cases is when I get some new (to me) fired cases from someone else's rifle and then only the once.

Got an RCBS small base 30-06 die set today. Took the neck sizing assembly out, sized brass with 0.002" shoulder bump, ran it up the Redding 25-05 body die to get that last little bit of shoulder that is the difference between 30 cal and 257 cal, ran it up my Lee neck sizing crimp die, then trimmed to length.

I've tried about a dozen with the above method and they all slide into the chamber without issue. I also received a regular RCBS 25-06 die set to 0.004" shoulder bump and those brass still had issues going into the chamber....which really surprised me.

With the SB 30-06 die, the ridges are almost imperceptible when rolling the sized brass in my fingers now.

I do have Hornady and Lee sizing dies coming, so I'm interested to see what happens with those.....but for now, that SB die gets me to where I can produce reliable rounds it would seem.
