RL 26

I have been using H1000 and RL26 with Berger 215s in my 300WM with 3.625 COAL. Both shoot great with my GAP non-typical with 1:9 twist and 25" bartlein barrel. The H1000 likes F215M and gives me SDs just over 10fps at 2830 fps. The RL26 likes CCI 250s and gives me SDs just under 10 fps at 2850 fps. Both loads were picked to optimize SD and accuracy not to try for max velocity. I have not done any cold weather sensitivity comparison of the two.

Good luck finding RL26 if you don't have it already. If I was looking for more, I might try putting in a back order with Powder Valley as they will let you back order unless indicated otherwise and their prices are fair.

I use in 260ai, can't get enough in case to get pressure, 50gr in lapua brass, 50.5gr pushes bullet back out a little, so super compressed but consistant. Get 2890fps with 140vld hunting. 26in barrel

At least no one has said .280 Ackley. Terrible idea lol! Yes this is a joke. Don't get offended. It really shines in mine. Neck and neck with 4831sc too. For me anyway...
Good luck try them all!

Yes, the .280 Ackley is a very fine round. Mine is the standard .280, but I do have a 30-06 Ackley Improved. It is a great round. It was a major-league pain in the keester for me to get the bugs ironed out of ( mostly because I was a total amateur as a handloader ) but it now shoots great and is a real KILLER. It also really forced the learning curve for me as a handloader, so I owe it a lot.

The Ackley-type cartridges are very interesting, as are the Sherman designs. ( I became aware of these from reading this forum.) These wildcatters have forced the hand of the big manufacturers, and that is why we have so many really neat factory cartridges coming out all the time - they're trying to keep up with the wildcatters. This is all good stuff.

Anybody use it in the .280 Remington ? ( Standard, NOT improved ….)
I'm getting 3111fps in 280 Rem in 24" bbl with 62.5 grains and 143 Hammer Hunters......5-.6" groups......playing with seating depth to try to tighten up groups and ES a little.

Fact is RL26 works well in most cartridges with heaviest for caliber bullets. Lighter bullets seem to like RL23 as its a faster powder..
Both are temp stable powders. I've had good luck with 243 win and 105 VLD and many others up to 30 Nosler using 215 Hybrids

I used it in my .300WinMag and 6.5-284. Great results with 212ELD-x and 147ELD-M. Ran out and was going to go back to Retumbo for 6.5-284 and maybe try H1000 in my newly re-barreled .300WM.
I went to the Dixie Gun & Knife Show Saturday in Raleigh and BAM!, found all the RL-26 you needed/wanted. Looked for a jug of it but all they had were the 1lb bottles. Picked up 5lbs, some bullets and primers and left.
Vendor was Blue Collar Reloading, Salisbury N.C., great people to work with. Brandon's email is [email protected]
