This a an unfired Remington 700 338 Lapua from the PT&G barreled action sale. The barrel is fluted with a threaded muzzle and stainless thread protector, and appears to be from a custom maker. Supposedly the custom shop was using Shilen barrels on the ones that didn't use factory Remington barrels. The action and barrel are stainless that has been Cerakoted black. The trigger is a stainless Remington X-Mark Pro. The stock is an Iota Kremlin. It has not been bedded. Action screws are blued. Bolt is a PTG one-piece bolt with aluminum knob and shroud, PT&G firing pin and spring, M-16 extractor. Bottom metal is PT&G Stealth military style and accepts the longer 3.775" Accurate Mags. Includes one mag. Chamber was finished with PT&G SAMMI Match reamer. I have a print somewhere, but the SAMMI Match reamer was SAMMI min chamber specs except with a slightly longer throat.

Unfired.
$1900 shipped.

From what I can tell Remington was getting $2500 for these in a cheaper stock and without the one-piece bolt(diameter matched to receiver), longer mag or match chamber.

When scoped up, sitting in that 10-11 pound range, with a good muzzle brake, it should be pleasant for the shooter. Your colleagues might move a bench or two further down the line, though! Great looking rifle, and very very tempting!!! GLWS

An 8 1/2 pound Lapua, that should test your dental work!
While that's certainly correct, if you figure 5 rounds is about 6oz, and ultralight ring/bases are about 3oz you're up to 9lbs. Add a pretty lightweight scope, muzzle break(barrel is already threaded) and a sling, and I really think 10.5lbs would be absolute lightest this could be carried. Even 11lbs would be keeping it pretty light.

On the other hand with a steel one-piece base, heavy 30mm rings(16oz for Mark 4 rings and base), and a large tactical scope(up to 39oz for a certain Nightforce) you're looking at at least 13lbs. You could get that up to 15lbs+ with a suppressor if you wanted. We haven't even mounted a bipod yet if weight is what you're after. ;)

I just used a recoil calculator.

I'm currently shooting an 8.5lbs 30-06 AI with 190's at 2975fps. Recoil energy is 28.26ft*lbs. It's quite tolerable for me(6'3" 220lbs) and my brother(6'3" 160lbs) did not complain when he barrowed it and I watched him practice.

A 338Lapua shooting a 250gr bullet at 2850fps using 98gr of powder would have 32.75ft*lbs of recoil energy at 14lbs, or 41.69ft*lbs at 11lbs. From that I would surmise it to be rather stiff, but tolerable without a break at 14lbs, and would likely require a break at 11lbs. That said, I'm familiar with an old woman who shoots a 375H&H without a break. She is much tougher than I am.
