I got a new .338 AM from Kirby and my 375 AM is for sale. Has 3 magazine options. Groups 12" at 2200yds.

I had Kirby build a rifle for me when he was still kind of unknown. It shot great, however there is no way I'd wait 3+ years for one. Plus he's too busy to even work on the rifle he built for me.
I had a 6 month wait back then, we'll worth that!
Is he somewhat of a pioneer?

There are lots of good gunsmiths out there that make just as accurate a rifle. My latest rifle was put together by Long Rifles Inc and shoots freaking awesome! Had a longer tighter twist barrel put on by another smith/builder and it shoots just as good. One week wait and a fraction of the cost.
I think your best bet is to get the components yourself and have a reputable guy put it together. Less wait and less heart ache, plus you get exactly what you ordered.

Awesome! My dream rifle has been a 16-18 pound .338 AM for many years. Went with the .375 due to the advancement in projectiles of recent years. Thinking of getting a lighter .338 barrel to swap out.
Not knocking Kirby what so ever, he is good. All I'm saying is he isn't the only one that can put a big boomer together.
There are guys out there that make just as accurate a rifle.

As of now I think Im going to buy all of the components and go to a local gunsmith who is only 12-14 months out. He has built other rifles for me and he said he has been doing more and more 375/408 CT. So withat being said I want to thank all of you for your opinions this has been a good thread for me to learn.

I cant wait for Christmas this year and we`re in January so I know I can`t wait 3+ years for any rifle except for one that shoots lasers like in star wars.

I think as of now Im going with a defiant action. Mcmillan stock or AI chassis. Barrel Im still researching,

i will be contacting Kriegrer on Monday to see if they make one what barrel have you gentlemen been using..

So, i might still go with the Chyanne Tactical M300.

Bruce Baer did my 338-408 he also can do 375 and 350 A bit slow but not 3 years depends on haw far he is behind. This is the 4 th gun he built for me Depends on where you are located? by the way he has his own bottom metal with 6 shot mag.

Bruce was building ELR rifles and hunting them before some others were out of high school. He has built 4 rifles for me and 2 ELR rifles.

There are several dozen gunsmiths with the experience and talent to create a best quality long range or ELR rifle. There is no one man who is better than all the rest. Learn to shop around, find and list out the ones you're interested in using then do a short interview to see if they meet your needs and ideals. Personalities play a big part in getting what you want, when you want it.

But you will need to get used to the idea that short wait times are over. 3-6 months is fast, 6 months is usual, longer is getting to be routine, unfortunately. Nowadays you need to plan ahead (allow a year...), pick your 'smith, assemble your components and ship them off. It can take 3-6 months to get the barrel you want if you have to order it or if the gunsmith does. Stocks are just as bad unless the one you want is currently in production or a regular production model. Fortunately, there are several websites which carry popular barrels and stocks as long as you want to pay retail. Don't expect discounts by waiting until the last minute.

Also remember that one 'smith doesn't have to do all the work either. The barreled action can be produced by one, then ship it off to be stocked and bedded by another. This can sometimes be played into a winning hand for you depending on each schedule.

There will always those stories about a one week turn around and fantastic mind altering service in a short term delivery but those are rare instances or someone knows someone. The real world is different.

That is another plus for Baer, he can duplicate any stock , or you can pick from about 50 that he makes himself! I dont know where you are from , but it may be worth a trip to his shop.?

To me there isn't any gunsmith worth a 3.5 year wait..I would look for reviews of the gunsmiths and see if they deliver on close to their stated dates after they get your money for the down payment. A few of the most talked about smiths that everyone wanted guns built from have gone down in flames over the years. You wouldn't want a contractor to take your down payment to build your house and say its going to be done in 6 months and still not have it done 3.5 years later...There are many smiths capable of putting together a long range rifle for you...At least if you can work with a local smith you can check up on the progress easily..

Im very intrigued on a 375 cheytac in a repeater format but I google the internet and this website I have only found hill country rifle that make a reasonably priced ELR rifle. So my question is does anybody have a review of hill country rifle.
Also can anybody recommend any other rifle manufacturer of a .375 cheytac.
Im not wanting to bash any rifle makers Im trying to find a reliable and well respected .375 cheytac maker.

20+ if you exclude CT themselves; whether those companies are "reliable and respected", not my call. Once you know who, you can Goggle for reviews.

I've got a bartlien on my .375 Am and a xlr chassis I. That one and a .338 lapua. Very nice for the money.
Also I can't say enough about pierce actions. They are very good. Not sure if it's done yet but they were working on a ti 408 action last year this time.

Only once had a week turn around and he was friend. However Eric Nostril at Nostril gunsmithing has built 2 LR rifles for me and turn around door to door was 3 weeks. I had to wait 3p days before he cleared his backlog on one. I had all parts to include reamer.
