Back around 2010 I won a Savage LRH in 6.5x284 at an Egg Shoot sponsored by Savage. The only Savage I had ever owned was an old Savage 99 lever action 300S.
Without much enthusiasm, I decided to load up some ammo and see how the LRH would shoot.
What a surprise! Bone stock except for sanding off a (barrel) pressure tab on the stocks fore end tip. It was chambered exactly to Norma specs with .188" free-bore and was proved to be quite a shooter. I saw little, if any difference in accuracy/velocity between the Savage's 24" barrel and my other 6.5x284's with 26" barrels. After about 10 years of very consistent performance and somewhere north of 1200 rounds I screwed on a Criterion pre-fit in 6.5x284 and replaced the plastic Accu-Stock with an MPA chassis. It's still killing game at long range!
Some loads/targets with the LRH over the years, and, the more recent Criterion/MPA update.
