Focus, Stay with me, Say it with me, "We are all Brothers". It is not "More Sporting" to hide from a deer and snipe him from 100yds with a good rest than it is to do the same thing @750. Tech or not the 750yd shot is more challenging. There are folks on here that think the 100yd shot is murder with a rifle and should only be attempted with a handgun. There are too few of us for us to allow this sort of thinking. Each of you have their own set of skills and know your limitations. As long as you work within those, and the Laws, you are an ethical hunter.

Exactly, The most memorable guided hunts I have been on were more like having a hunting partner than someone telling me what to do. It can actually be much more fun than hunting alone if the personalities mesh.

Of course I have also spent over a week on the tundra after being dropped off by a floatplane. Boned and packed animals over five miles back to camp. Atta boy Red! Me too! Bush groceries...and I'm not required to put on my mask before leaving the truck if there happens to be game standing in the field next to ROAD...that I'm driving on before I get to the Rendezvous spot that I really wanted to sit at for several hours.... call me a Grocery Opportunist...not a hunter! A true hunter would have passed up that Imperial Bull! ( SO...MAYBE I LIKE HORN SOUP)
 
This is one of the worst threads I've seen on this forum. If you know everything this is to know about the game your hunting & there is nothing left to learn. You're killing every time out then where does the enjoyment come from? It might be time to pick up a different hobby. The best hunters in the world still don't know it all.

This is a long range hunting forum. So in the 50's and 60's folks used the latest gear as it came available too i bet. Centerfire rifles dramatically increased range capability over black powder decades before then. Black powder was better than sticks and strings which were better than clubs, knives and rocks, you get the point. I "grew up" in the 70's and 80's probably shooting something similar to what you hunted with in my 270 win with a fixed 4 power leupold and I bow hunted. There's a rule here we don't get bogged down with the E word because we all should strive to make a clean first round harvest whether with a long bow or the latest whiz bang rifle and cartridge no matter what range. We all should adhere to fair chase. If we put in the effort to develop our skill and invest in our kit to extend our lethal range with our weapon of choice there's nothing wrong with taking pride in a solidly executed "long range" harvest imho. Fair chase is well defined by #boone&crocketclub and I have heard a lot about it and consider it often. Most of what the OP mentioned is either stuff that state regulations address in detail like "drones" or flying before/during a hunt. Shooting from a road is illegal unless handicapped in most states we hunt. Outfitters are great for hunting and I hunt with them or hunt solo and do not consider myself less of a hunter if I hire one. I do consider finding a legal buck on public land in Eastern Washington to be more challenging of a hunt than an antelope hunt in Colorado or buying a guided hunt on private land. When I get a public land buck on solo hunt it has as much to do with dumb luck as being a "great hunter" imo lol. I have done some fantastic hunting with no harvest tag punched and gotten lucky without as much effort invested and filled my tag. THAT is hunting or fishing!
