Ramblings and Such From Hunting Coyote

When I was 8 my parents moved to southern Indiana, we grew half an acer of peanuts as well as a big garden half an acer of garden and half an acer of potatoes. Boiled peanuts in a salt brine for me. I left and came home when I was 13, no such thing as child labor laws then but I did continue and graduate from high school I knew enough to do that. back then a high school diploma was about what a bachelor's degree is today. Did You climb the peak to the radio station and helo pad? It's a ten mile climb to the top at a little over 10,000 feet. One of my uncles helped put it up there in the 60's. They were there doing it in late September and early October and got snowed in on top for a week. It's still transmitting to LEO and Military using analogue, tied in with some other places in the western states.

Ayoung buck and his does. It was a nice day got to 89 , a breeze and low humidity in the teens.

74honker, I make the denim fire starters out of old worn out Levis 501's but I don't have any at this time, so I used a piece of paper towel to demonstrate. I make a strip an inch wide and 12 inches long, roll it up and tie it with cotton thread so that I can dip it in wax and then break the string and unroll it a little too light it on a corner of the cloth. They burn a long time and with it being windy here after you get them lit, they don't go out for a while they burn a long-time lite damp small wood twigs in the cold high altitudes we have. Most anything that will burn and can be cut or torn into a strip, rolled up and waxed can be used for them.

I love the saying Butterbean has about arguing with stupid people it's so fitting so many times throughout life!!!! On a lighter note, I contacted the manufacture of the pistol I posted about the other day, and they sent me a shipping label to send it back to them. They said they had never heard of one being in that condition before. I ordered some snares, and that company sent me the wrong ones. I called them they looked my order up said yes that they had made a mistake, and they would send me the correct things and not to send the wrong ones back. I have the parts and will make some tomorrow. I stopped by the store and got some fried chicken for my Wife, Walt, Bella and my lunch when I went to check out, they had charged me 20.00 dollars instead of 8.36 dollars. I took it back to the lady and she said well it must have been the special chicken I made for you. and corrected the mistake. Then she said you know it's nice to serve people that don't get mad at you when you make a mistake thank you. I am a human being too and have messed up worse than that so try not to get upset at the things like that.

Yes. I am thinking about supper while I am eating my dinner.
Those fire starters look good. I have always used cotton balls covered in vaseline and stuff in prescription bottle. I made some for a hiker friend of mine from wood chips, shredded paper, dryer lint and wax. They work good and a good way to repurpose things. You can soak the shredded paper in water a few days and agitate. The lignin from the wood(paper) separates and will act like a glue mixed with the right ratio of wood chips it can made into a brick for fuel. The long leaf pine saw dust works great too because of the high content of sap

Thanks

Buck
