R26 & 264 wm anyone?

I tried RL26, H1000, IMR 4350 and 7828ssc in mine before trying RL 33. Looking at my notes from those testing days, RL26 gave decent speeds (2990-3128) but nothing seemed to group well enough for me. The others were ok but again, nothing that was grouping well or velocity just wasn't there.
The RL33 however, gave me great velocity (3225-3250) out of a factory Model 70 26".

All of these shooting the 142 gr Nosler ABLR

So you feel it is better suited for 6.5-284, 6.5-06 and 6.5 Creedmoor? Those just happen to be in my herd of 6.5's...lol

Precisely! I have a 6.5x55 I intend to try it in. It looks to me like the Swede may have enough capacity for RL-26 to work with bullet weights down to 130 grains or so...

Fisherman983, just getting back to you on RL26, Hornady 143 ELDX Winchester case, fed 215 primers in a 264 win mag Sendero. I wanted to run these at 3200 fps, but ended up pressuring out right at 3200 fps. Powder charge was 65 grains. Didn't get much past velocity workup, so I don't have any accuracy data at lower charge weights for you, sorry. I saw No sense in sustainable shooting of it in pressure, and since it didn't give me the velocity I was looking for I decided to move on to Retumbo.

how did retumbo work out for you?

Hello everyone. Name is Rhett and I'm new to LRH. First, I would like to thank everyone on this forum for a lot of good information over the years I've kept up w/ it. Lot of knowledge and experience seems to come from here.
As to the 264WM load, I built mine last year and through my load development, my go to load is with Retumbo. Running a Bartlein 26" 3B w/ 8 twist and w/ 143 ELDX my COAL at .025 off lands is 3.340(CBTO is 2.700). I live in Houston, Texas so the temp was in the high 80's. My final load that gave me 1/4 MOA at 200 yd sight in was;
Winchester brass, WLRM primers, 68.3G Retumbo, 143G ELDX. Average MV was 3020. According to Quickloads, 99.3% fill capacity. I had no pressure signs w/ this load.
Hope this helps and thanks again for all the good info.

My 264WM is a custom reamer with .177" freebore. I am still testing with RL26 and a 135JLK bullet. Win brass, Fed215GM, 68.5GR RL26 and 135JLK I'm getting 3280fps. I ran it all the way up to 3340 before pressure. 68.5gr gave me the best ES at 12 for 5 shots. and a decent group I'm going to be testing seating depth next. ill keep you posted how it works out.

I couldn't get accuracy out of rl26 and 140 grainers,
RL25 however shot a lot better with less pressure and more velocity.
^^^^^This!!
My 2 go-to powders are RE25 & H1000, but when available here, RE33 & Retumbo are doing very well too. My supply with Retumbo, which ironically is MADE here, is hard to get all the time or in the quantity I require.

Cheers.
:)

fisherman983, Retumbo got me to 3187 fps at 66 gr.

I moved to RE33 and hit my velocity numbers for my 264 win mag and for my 338 Lapua. Soon to try it out in my 300 win mags.

Here are the powder charge work ups I did.
143 gr ELD-X
Win case
Fed 215M primer
Loaded 2.750" BTO for .010" off lands
These were new never fired cases.
72 gr 3071 FPS
73 gr 3181 FPS
74 gr 3212 FPS
75 gr 3262 FPS
76 gr 3303 FPS

I will be running these at 74 gr.
75 gr and 76 gr both showed extractor mark.

Then I tried RL33 with the 147 ELD-M
147 gr ELD-M
Win case
Fed 215M primer
Loaded 2.750" BTO for .010" off lands

This brass was once fired in previous workup, powder charges were reversed to attempt to even out pressure exposure on the brass.

72 gr 3101 FPS
73 gr 3173 FPS
74 gr 3214 FPS
75 gr 3244 FPS
76 gr 3284FPS

Again, ill be running these at 74 gr.

My 264 is going off to the gunsmith for a muzzle brake on Monday .

Hi, New to LRH - nearly finished building a long range mountain rifle 264WM. Thank you for the R33 Load insights, was wondering if anyone developed Load for new Berger Elite Hunter 140s with R33?

I have not shot that bullet yet.
I'm kind of hoping my rifle is a cheap date, and likes the less expensive Hornady pills! (About $12.00 a box less.)
Don't get me wrong, if she takes me there, ill go...
At some point this year, I plan on trying out some IMR8133, bought just a pound to give it a whirl in this and a few other rifles.
