Question for fordy

On moose & the 223 they are just big from my limited experience & not that hard to kill so it'll work no worries but stay away from hard quarter away especially on its left side

Ask away if I'm not clear
Cheers
what do you mean about the left side?

Gday rich
Please accept my apologies in advance

What are hallmark movies 🤷‍♂️

cheers

My friend, you have been missing out!

Hallmark movies are almost all the same. Some guy or gal leaves the big city after twenty years and hooks up with their highschool sweetheart. They have a foolish fight about something even more foolish. Then they get back together.

The end.

Since I stopped watching any news I watched them for awhile. Once I realized they are all the same I stopped. Now I watch westerns. The guys in the white hats shoot the guys in the black hats. The good guy rides into the sunset with the pretty girl.

The end.

I can hardly wait for my new barrel. Details will follow after it is chambered.

what do you mean about the left side?
Gday Lamiglas
Sorry for my lack of explanation

The left side is in relationship to the critters left side

The reason for the advice against taking a hard quarter away especially up the left side of the big critters is where the paunch is located in the body of that critter

On ruminates the paunch sits to the left side on the critter & if one try's to put a bullet through that to get to the vitals a lot just won't make it & the 223hh is one that has shown on bovines it's lack of ability on numerous occasions where the 260 hh has shown the ability to do it on a very consistent basis

Now also it's not just a matter of getting through that paunch it's the ability of the pill itself to hold zones 2&3 long enough to give a good level of wounding in the vitals to kill the critter in a timely manner ( various people have different levels of killing efficiency which is another topic ) & the 223 just doesn't have the goods to do this

So now I guess I should explain why I put these things out

First off definitely not the first placed shot I'd like to take but reality is it could be needed & for a couple reasons
But main one for me is if one messes up the first shot & the critter needs/ should be secured quickly , I like to have as many irons in the fire as possible ( covering bases ) & I like a pill that can get through that paunch but if i don't have the capability in that pill that I'm using I want to know as no use of putting a pill in the paunch when it will basically do nothing & I'd go for a pelvis shot instead to secure that critter quickly

The 260 gives options of both shot placements
Where the 223 only gives one option

that is on top of how the pill works on more normal resistances as that is one we shouldn't go total penetration is the only thing to look @ & why I don't care too much for zone 4

Hope that makes sense if not ask away

Cheers

I've shot a lot of elk with a 28 nosler and the 177 HH was just outstanding from all angles out just over 600 yards, one of my favorite combo's for elk and mule deer!!
