Proof research carbon or Barlein 5R Stainless ?

Bartlein barrels for sure. I have had better accuracy with a variety of bullets and Bartlein barrels than the proof barrels maybe liking a bullet or two. I did get lucky with a proof barrel custom 300 prc that shoots phenomenal with even factory ammo, it's rubbed in my face every time I talk to the guy who purchased it from me

Alex Wheeler on here would have good input.He builds bench rest rifles,and if I recall,shoot a WR, when shooting.Freind of mine at Defiance has a Bartlein,real accurate for him, in his 338NM.

And does that #3 fluted end up weighing the same as the carbon or even lighter?

I have two builds. Both 300 prc with 26 inch barrels. One #3 fluted, one #4 Both weigh within 2 ounces of each other. 7 pounds 2 and 4 ounces.

I've got the Remington Gen 2 Mil Spec in .260Rem.

If not the best barrel I've ever had it would be the 2nd.

My Proof barrel shoots pretty dang phenomenal. I do have a Bartlein stainless barrel in a 22-250AI that was chambered and fitted by Bartlein but it doesn't shoot as good as this Proof.

Proof is carbon fiber.

Bartlein is stainless.

I have a Bartlein 2B stainless in 7mm-08 and a #4 contour in .300 WBY. Both shoot tiny, little groups and I have the upmost confidence in both rifles.

I have Proof Sendero Lite Carbon Fibers in 6mm CM and a 7mm REM Mag. They shoot equally as well as the Bartleins.

I would buy either again, absolutely hands down. It would just depend on my end goal or what I am in the mood for on the rifle setup. Bottom line, I can't tell you one is more accurate than the other as they all shoot extremely well and I am completely satisfied.

The most accurate rifle I've ever owned is a Remington .260 with a 5R rifled barrel.

I'd be hard pressed to go with anything else on my future builds.

I haven't owned one yet but the 3 groove Lilja barrels have piqued my interest.

I know carbon fiber barrels are lighter and the cool thing to do now but I'm not yet convinced they are the way to go.

I wish Kirby was around, I always appreciate his expertise on this subject.
