Prairie Dog Hunt?

my round count last year was 13,600 at prairie dogs and squirrels. I've have many 600 round days, maybe, a couple of 700, but I don't think I've ever had a 1000 round day. all my shooting is single shot, single feed, hand loaded, center fire. No AR's in our group.
Interesting… I'm curious, do you use the same rifle or have several running at the same session?

Take what ever time you can, The worst thing in life is regret and then saying, I wish I had done that.
Amen to that buddy.. it'll prol be two days later this year if I can swing it. I've invested in some solid equipment and have very good ammo tuned.. the last component is time and money. It's gonna happen this year, I'll make sure to get some pics and share with the class! 😃

Yep! As soon as I get my reloading shack finish. Get a workup of a load for a couple of rifles. I out to shoot some P. dogs. That where I am going to extend my range of shooting.
I was a ground squirrel shooter sometime back, but lost all my areas do to peole moving in. I like it a hell of a lot better when there wasn't any people around.
i have found over the years that going an ask to shoot ground squirrels on their farm or ranch, worked out very good. We got to shoot and they got the crop destroyers gone. I figured it was a win on both sides of it. The real expense was mind and they gained on more crops to bring to market. :)

I can remember a time not that long ago, that when you asked permission to hunt ground squirrels the farmer, rancher was liable to say yes. And please wait a moment. He'd return to the door in a few minutes and hand you a brick of 22 ammo. Good luck and have fun.

So is it safe to assume that you're loading your ammo on a progressive press? I have a Dillon XL650 and it's great for that and I'm about to fire it up for a prairie dog hunt later this year if I can make it back to prairie dog country.

No on the progressive, but I try to only load powders that measures easily through a powder thrower. AA1680 for 20 ackley hornet, 20 killer bee, AA2200 for vartargs, 223 and h322 for 20tac,s I don't recall my 204 loads but, I don't shoot them that much anymore..
