Placing 2-4 lbs in a 8lb container for thorough mixing helps. Better than adding 1 kernal at a time from the differing lots of powder...

Ok….. Question? Has anyone ever taken two containers of powders, in this case Reloader 16, both new 1# bottles, but from different lots and mixed them together. Essentially making your own lot, neither of the powders have been used yet to reload. It seemed like a viable solution to todays problems, seeing that you can't buy powders in effective quantities…

Pros-Cons…? And go!

I don't see why you couldn't. I generally use up a bottle and then add a small amount to a new bottle.

I would try the wife's kitchen aid mixer but the knots on my head are still sore from the time I borrowed her glass measuring cup to mix up some gasoline for the weed eater.

Great question cause I've got a little bit left in a different lot of 8133 and tempted to toss it in with a fresh can.

I would guess the powder manufacturers blend lots all the time. I do it, but am careful to blend powders that have been recently made and weigh a bunch of charges and compare volume/weight for moisture absorption or signs of deterioration. So far the different lots have had the same density and look & smell as they should. Bench rest shooting is not in my future.

Mixing different lots will give youa slightly different burn rate. That can change your POI slightly. When you run out of that mixed stuff, how you gonna duplicte it?

If you run out of one lot, and buy more of a different lot, then your POI might change also. Just fine tune your load.

I do it all the time. I keep my 8lb jugs just for that purpose
