I look at it differently, Midway is interfering with scalpers for a little while. If you set the price high, scalpers won't buy up the entire supply. It's just not worth it to them. Meanwhile, if you be patient, and the inventory at midway builds back up, the price will come down. Scalpers lose and you and I win. Part of the reason the scalper market exists is because of websites like PV keeping their prices the same. If they done the same thing for a month or two the scalpers would move on to the next thing that's popular. People who are good at it use bots to monitor sites and buy up the inventory (used a bot to buy more than their monthly restriction). Guarantee you this is why PV had to cancel all those orders.
Midway is hoping that you will just wait, and hoping that scalpers keep their inventory on the shelf.
Be honest with yourself, is there any difference in staring at a pound of powder that cost $100 and in stock any different than never being able to buy it because of scalpers?
There is a local auction that has a pound of H4350 up to $65+15% fee for the auction.... that should tell you something. I bid it up to $45 and walked away.
I have given almost all of my internet powder and primer business since the last time this B.S.started because they didn't gouge then like others. If I cant get it from my local LGS then P.V is were I go.I will now try to exclusively buy my components from Powder Valley.
I always use a LGS just to avoid the Hazmat shipping, but it's to the point now that my LGS can't keep what they have more than a day. They too sell at regular pre-freak out prices, and it's gone in a matter of hours. Filled the display completely one day with Hodgdon and it was empty in 4 hours.I've always used PV first and will continue to do so. Never anything but great experiences with them.
My lgs has done this exact same thing. I asked what was up and he simply said if he priced anything at normal price it wasn't there more than a day. So to try and give people that actually need it a chance to get it he priced powder at $50/lb to shoo away the flys. He did say if he recognized anyone buying powder he would give them normal price.
Can't get any powder/primers/loaded cartridges at any LGS around here. has'nt been any in 6 months. ACE hardware in my town had to buy a whole container of shotgun shells to get them. I live in the Southern farm country. Hodgon doesnt loose any money on shipping. I bought a few pounds and cost me $40 for shipping and Haz. Buy 3 pounds and add $40 more.Their price is only a few dollars higher than my normal gun shop. They have to pay shipping fees for individual boxes and not pallets to be able to serve you. They have also said they will not be competing with their normal dealers, which is why they keep the price higher. I don't really care what they have it marked at if it's out of stock 99 out of 100 days.
Blaming Powder Valley for NOT f'ing their own customers would be laughable if it wasn't so sad.scalper market exists is because of websites like PV keeping their prices the same.
I am glad you responded because I don't know how much longer I could bite my finger, I have been warnedBlaming Powder Valley for NOT f'ing their own customers would be laughable if it wasn't so sad.
It seems most here are grateful that PV is one of the companies that has gone above & beyond to support us and the great American shooting sports. But I realize that mileage may vary.
