Powder/Primer Availability?

That is mighty kind of you. I'm sure I will find at least some rifle powder (although not the ideal H4350) somewhere in Dallas. I guess I just need to be patient.
Ok Will, I can hook you up. I'm out S West of you on Lake Brownwood. Don't waste your time at the big box stores in the DFW area. For almost 2 years now, going to them has been a big waste of my time. Unless you can get there within hours of the stock arriving; Cabelas BassPro and the dozens of Academy stores have all been zero. Call first if you can find someone there who knows.

I have an old Bowhunting buddy that bought my favorite gun store in Abilene 10yrs ago. I can call him and get a heads up on when stuff is due to arrive and what's in the UPS box. It's an hour drive for me but worth it. I have also seen powder at the last 3 Abilene gunshows.

Ok Abilene Texas Gun and Knife Show is this weekend you need to come. It's a 2hr drive but it will be worth it. I'll be there early on Saturday and I will bring you a pound of H4350 and a few hundred small rifle primers. How are you fixed for bullets? I can share a box of those too. What are you needing?

It's at the Abilene Convention Center
1100 N 6th Street
Abilene, 79601

PM me and I'll shoot you my phone number so we can arrange to meet in the parking lot.

Hope to meet you there

Phil

I'm brand new to reloading (equipment is still in the box) and am having an extremely difficult time finding powder and primers (small rifle). When I do find powder, the shipping is more expensive than the powder. I live in North Texas so any suggestions on where I can find powder and primers locally? Cabellas and Bass Pro are the only stores I've thought about but haven't had time to run over there yet. I am planning to load 6.5 CM. Thank you in advance!
I'm in Texas myself. I would suggest you go to one or more of the gun shows. There's one every weekend usually. Dallas, Ft Worth, Mesquite, etc. There us usually a couple of vendors that sell reloading supplies. I will have to post later the schedule info unless someone else does. I haven't been to one lately so it may be scarce. Other than that do online search and be quick on the draw when something is available. Primers are the hardest to get then powder. Companies making reloading equipment have to be suffering. Like buying a new vehicle but no gas available.

It's a hit & miss now- but keep checking them all. A lb will go a long way with the 6.5CM loadings in that 30-45 gr range 150 + rounds. Good luck with your new toys and welcome to Handloading. If you can afford it & find buy them in the 4-6-8 Gal jugs

It is easy to spot them if you know what to look for. You can put a few things together (low prices, everything in stock) but a dead giveaway is payment methods…if you can use a credit card then you should be fine. Do not use PayPal, crypto, Venmo, etc where you have no recourse when they bail on you..
And don't even trust the major credit card companies to refund your money! Stick to local stores or bigger well established on-liners....better to not be in-stock than get ripped off!

Since you're in Texas you may wish to check out Capital Cartridge in Houston, they do have small pistol and small rifle primers from time to time. These are Unis Ginex Primers out of Bosnia, 5000/550usd.
You're right! They have a ton of primers... if you want to buy 5000.

You have any LR primers to trade for small rifle primers? I have 6 sleeves I could let go.

I picked up several cans of powder and primers at FT. Worth gun show Saturday.

I just posted #400 Small Rifle Primers for sale in classifieds here on LRH under reloading components

At Brownells

Castle Arms is advertising Fiocchi Small Rifle Primers.
