I have a question about powder loads. I have a remington 700 sendero special, with a 24" barrel, in 300 win mag. I am very new to long range shooting, and needing to do a load test for this new rifle. I will be shooting a berger 210g vld hunting bullet with hodgden h1000 powder. The recomended powder load is 71.5 g - 75.5 g. I am looking for any load recomendations from 1,000 + yd shooters, since i know the recomended loads tend to be on the lighter side of what a rifle can handle. I do have a friend helping me that has years of experience... I just hate to keep asking him everything

Do a load work up… I like to do the ocw method at 500 yds then adjust seating depth. I then shoot cold bore 3 shot (saves time and components) groups at 100, 200, and 300 checking velocity…. This helps me to start recording my velocity and getting a good starting point for my kestrel and rangefinder. I then true my velocity by what I'm seeing down range at 1,000 yds. Once I feel I got it where I want it, I load up and practice.
A good reloading manual is a good place to start.
