Pick a Powder

Confused here. I see a Hodgdons bottle relabeled with XMR 4350 which I've never heard of. RL 17 if you have a bunch same with the Vits don't like the hybrid 100 so Staball makes since as it pretty easy to find p

I'm anxious to see the results of your powder choice and load development for your .243. I often reach for Rl17 in my .243 but have no experience with the VV powders on your list. Great choice of bullet for that fine cartridge. Please keep us posted. Thanks

All the Enduron line?

I've been wanting to try some 8133 if I found it

Yeah. I emailed hodgdon about it for confirmation and they said yes it's all discontinued. sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

I was a fan of 8133 as well

I seen an interview somewhere where they said they pulled it from the lineup be cause a supplier or something had huge orders to fill. Once they could get it again it would be back in production. They didn't want it on the website when it wasn't available. I think they even referenced Lapua's decision to stop making certain brass while they are trying to fill orders for the current situation in Europe.

I have found seating depth testing with the hammer hunter to be a waste of time and components. I've done it twice and the difference from best to worst group size was insignificant. Groups with my 204 Ruger and the 31HH went from a low of .206" to a high of .218" at 100 yards. That said, sometimes we have to try things to prove to disprove their usefulness.

There are a few rifles out there that seating depth has made a difference but I don't own any of them, I seat to the last PDR Groove and Let Her Eat

I'm a big fan of bullets that ain't too picky about depth haha. In my very limited experience the clear winners for that are hammers, Nosler ballistic tips, and the flat base hornady interlocks. All just easy to get along with. The Noslers are horrendously overpriced and overrated for what they are however, a cup and core lead bullet.

H100V Wins out. Low shot was "Don't screw up this group" 🤪

Red Arrow shows ejectors riding brass. Does this just chambering a round. Still rounded edged primers!

I used to have a rifle that unconditionally left those swiped and even ejector marks on anything you fed it. Meant nothing. Like you said, primers look fine, bolt not stiff, no bolt shards stickIng out of your head….🤣
