Ita cheat way to get out of the gates or out of the starting blocks faster that'll give false to no pressure signs (which can be good). So much for finding best land to ogive measurement. Makes me think of my kid that is more like foreign sportscars......slow start, but after 1st gear he's off and no catching him.. vang-comp for rifles.

I got my 6.5 creed done on my comp rifle to try and squeak some more velocity out of it. I don't shoot it much so any barrel life that could be compromised I don't care about.
27" barrel h4350 power I gained about 120fps. Now I have a 3030fps average with 130gr bullets. Not and for a 6.5 Creedmoor.
I've consider do it for my hunting rifles, but to an extent it's not necessary. Accuracy before and after the +p process did not change. I had about 400rds on the barrel when I sent it out. Consistent sub 1/2" groups still.

Just go 6.5 SAUM and be done with it. Doubt you have enough case capacity in a PRC to really gain the loss pressure you get with the +P. +P is for BIG cases.
Why not talk to Shawn Carlock, who pioneered the +P throating?

I have looked into that just didn't want to pay to have full chamber cut for it or didn't want to replace barrel. I was just seeing if it really was worth it
Sure. I have. But I always like to balance it with other input not coming from a promoter who may or may not have personal interests involved.

I have talked with him a little about it. After re reading the emails I didn't ask him to much about the gains cuz I read everything he had on his website and videos on it. I was just curious if anyone has done it and what they have seen is why I started this thread
When he first came up with it, many LRH and LRO members had theirs throated. I still know a few that still have theirs. Anyone offering +P throating service has a vested interest regardless of other people's thoughts. Otherwise, they will not provide it.

+P changes the throat and leade. Adding powder will probably erode the throat faster. More powder to burn in the throat, but at less initial pressure.
I did it. Probably won't do it again, but that's just me.

Unless it is an XM or LA, don't +P. You can't get to the lands with a 6.5PRC in a SA mag as it is.
I am a little biased, but the PRC/SI is a great increase. I love mine.
I have a SA mag bolt face that will be needing a rebarrel fairly soon, and I will be going 26" 6.5PRC/SI when the time comes.
